NOW: Light Drizzle continues to impact the region this afternoon, with temperatures running in the Low/Mid 60s across Nassua and Western/Central Suffolk County. The only exception is in Eastern Suffolk County where temperatures are currently running in the upper 50s.
TODAY: Showers and thunderstorms will likely develop to the (S/SW) of the region and push off to the (N/NE) this afternoon/evening. The "Storm Prediction Center" in Norman, OK has issued a SLGT RISK for severe weather just (S) of the NYC Metro area which extends from there down through the Mid-Atlantic. ATTM, i don't believe severe weather will be a threat across Long Island, but I can't rule out one or two of the storms that develop today will not become strong in nature allowing for the potential threat for gusty winds and small hail across the region. Other then the threat for the chance for a few strong storms around the region whould be the threat for a few localized area's of flooding/flash flooding around the region in low lying area's in locations that pick up the heaviest of rainfall from the showers/thunderstorms.
