Not the way most want to start off a workweek with thunderstorms. Most of the tri-state area is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 2PM excluding NYC, Northern NJ and parts of NY State. It will be interesting to see just how much severe activity develops as I think areas well East of the City and over Southern NJ will have the best chances. The energy in the atmosphere is not quite lined up with the actual surface features, which may hinder the development of strong storms the farther inland you go.
The forecast for Monday is calling for Showers and thunderstorms, especially this morning. Some sunshine is likely during the afternoon the farther inland you go. Highs will be in the mid 70s. Winds will light out of the West, but will be much stronger in the vicinity of thunderstorms.
