As I have been busy updating how I'll be blogging with Camtasia and Chromakey, I had to check in and put up quick blog late today. The weather today no doubt is on a rampage. The wild weather will really get going tonight in the Philadelphia area..
Before I get into that.. Just an upper level trough moving through the Eastern US. Deepening low pressure center near over the Great Lakes. So, we have a powerful cold front that will sweep through the region overnight. Just checking the weather reports across the US.. So, we have plenty of severe weather and several damaging tornadoes, especiallly over northern Georgia. The size of that tornado for this time of year is just unreal, but all the right conditions came together. Seems like it doesn't matter what time of year severe weather strikes or the strength of it.. It just happens when all the conditions become favorable. The other side of the mild, unseasonably warm weather is winter back over the Great Lakes. Seeing plenty of METARS indicating snow moderate to heavy.
Check this out.. Corpus Christi, TX reach 90 degrees. In the 126 years of NWS record keeping, this is the fourth time this high temperature been observed. Thats pretty amazing..
High Wind Warnings are now in effect for all of South Jersey. Winds may gust up to 60mph. So, down trees and powerlines could be in the cards tonight. Elsewhere, still very strong winds will exist everywhere else. Make sure all items are fasten down. Make sure you shut that screen door. Several weeks ago, almost lost the door to high winds. Did a bit of damage to it.
Also, can't rule out an isolated tornado, but damaging winds primary threat.
So we get the unseasonably mild weather, but pay the price tonight with damaging winds.
One final comment as to when and if we see a major winter storm. I would not be surprised we see a very big storm with significant snow late February or March. Remember that freak storm back in November. I have a feeling thats how we'll kick Spring off. Stay tune on that one..
