So the streak rolls on now with 8 days in a row of 90+ but this is no where near a record. We need many more days in a row to break the all-time record of 90+ days in a row and 90+ days for a summer.
We're in for at least 3 more days of EXCESSIVE HEAT from the Lehigh Valley to the beaches of New Jersey and Delaware.
and now something to cool you off and look ahead....
CHECK THE EARLY OUTLOOK FOR THIS WINTER FROM ROB GUARINO AND THE LIVEWEATHERBLOGS STAFF...
Philadelphia officially hit 100 degrees today... At 254pm.... This marks the 3 rd consecutive year of reaching 100 ...... Capping a very impressive heat wave to say the least.....
Summer of 2012... So far
17, 90+ degree days..... Looking over the long range .. That number should definitely go up...... Both the Euro and GFS show another very impressive ridge developing ... Some of the heights they are trying to show are off the charts for southeastern Canada
Just spent some time soaking up some sun at the pool and jumped in for a few minutes. Showing 101.4 here - and climbing. Second time this year to hit 100.
IF you go by the GFS, next week looks kinda crappy. Could be cloudy a few days with on and off rain/showers if the front does not stall far enough south. The big heat wave following that crappy weather will get me through it!
After Sunday, Philadelphia will have recorded 17, 90+ degree days for 2012..
That is a pretty impressive rate for it only being Early July... Both the Euro and GFS are both showing the Heat returns as early as next Thursday, With the potential of Big heat returning late month.. so enjoy the Cool down of mid 80s next week....
Talking about the warm sea surface temps this is the case way way north as well... That should really trigger a Negative NAO come later on hmmmm 2009-2010 all over again??
What a 2-3 week stretch we are in!! Been swimming almost everyday, grass stopped growing, very little rain or clouds to speak of. These are summers people dream of
