Let's move on, WINTER IS DONE

Well I hate to say this but in my opinion, Winter is over with. I want to definetly start focusing on my favorite weather season, Severe Season! I will make a severe outlook for this season for the Mid-Atlantic area soon. But like I said, there is maybe a 2% chance a winter storm in march here.

What's funny, is that if you go back throughout the past 125 years or so, the odds of a Philly snowstorm in March would probably come out closer to 7%. Even though it's not good, it's still better than 2%

Anthony ,the winter that was forecasted and what we wished for never really started in the Philly area.
Its hard to believe that there could be two winters back to back like we have had .You would think that the law of averages if nothing else would have given us a storm of over 2 inches .

In my opinion both the long term and many short term forecasts were really bad this year by the pro mets who ,for some reason .just didn't catch on to what was happening outside of the models.

I cant help but think that the cause an effect of weather variables is still elusive for longer range forecaster . if you were to look at the reasoning behind this years winter forecast you would think it sound but the result was not what they thought it would be.

i wrote in a post fairly early on about when things don't go as thought early on that every thing down the road would be effected and not in a good way.but many of the mets didn't adjust and kept talking how the forecast would still hold .
Because many of these mets make their living with long term forecasting its not easy for them to face the reality of bad forecasts.

Lets face it as far as winter is concerned and love of snow Philly is not the place to be .

Hey Anthony! Could you make a quick Northeast severe season outlook for the folks that don't get too much love in the northeast blog? You don't have too, its just I live near Worcester MA (Charlton, MA) so it's always awko taco when nobody focuses near here :P
Have a great day!
