As I said yesterday a 12 plus storm could happen .Right now I give it a 20 percent chance 1 in 5 if you will.Things we no.. there will be a storm and the sweet spot could be boston north. As always totals tomorrow at 5.00am and remember love the one your with.
Thanks Lee, I've been doing that for years, when it's windy you have to put 3-4" ridged sides all around it and smooth out then snow with a ruler so that it's level and measure it in 10 places and average out the measurements, thus a 12X12 plate, that way you can smooth it out evenly with a 12" ruler.
Very cool idea. I could tell it was melting away but at loeast it snowed hard and for a nice duration too. I have been waiting for just one 3-4 inch accumulating storm so my boy can really enjoy a real snow. Not giving up hope just yet.
Lee, in my area 3.3" fell from the sky but as 78yanks said, it was wet, the surface was warm and it was melting and not adding up. I know exactly what fell from the sky by way of a 12X12 metal plate, kept in the freezer before the event and placed in a tray of ice that was in direct contact with the pate keeping it at or very close to 32, it was placed outside with the tray elevated 2" as the sleet first began to fall. I usually only use this in big storms to calculate that rate of snowfall per hour when it's coming down very heavily, but I used it for this just out of curiosity, 5 minutes of time to know what fell from the sky was well worth it in my opinion.
I can understand that, I guess I was a tiny bit bitter last night that all I got was a half inch, no matter how hard it snowed, and it came down heavy, it just wouldn't add up.
36" - very good point, making assumptions over here.
I can relate, I would get bitter in the past, hoping every storm pops for us. As sucky as this winter has been its still nice to have all these little systems to track, better than nothing. We're overdue --- have patience!
Lee, how do you know if the people here are grown men?
And JW, we know how that "phase" game works. We're about 0-3 for "earlier" phases so far this Winter, including the New England blizzard last weekend. I don't buy it either. Yes Lee, I'm bitter!
Have never seen grown men so bitter and upset b/c of a lack of wintry precip. That being said, looking forward to another coating to inch. Better than nothing, right?
Rebel glad you see the potential of this monster even if its a small chance. I won't be gearing up the ATV with the plow but this could be one of those instances where I"m out in the garage during nowcast time gettin er done!!! I await you predictions oh wise one! Til 5 AM Rebel Stern!
