Folks, there is a reason Boston averages 45 inches of snow a year and philly only averages near 20-21. Boston can get big snows even with a slightly positve NAO. Philly cannot. This friday boston may get 2ft of epic snow. Philly? A cold rain.
I love the city of Philadelphia but I do hate how it's sandwiched between mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. I still don't see any chances on the horizon for a sizable snow...or even for supportive temps. It's last winter all over again. :(
I agree, SgtSnow! Know of any good Phillies forums? I need to start spending my time discussing something that is guaranteed to happen...baseball season!
i know i'm beating the same drum but second half of feb looks really good for Snow.....lots of things going for us.....Hang in there everyone...its going to be a fun 3-4 weeks......to finish out winter...
Reggie; Philadelphia sees most of it's snowstorms in a negative nao, but has seen a number of major snowstorms with a positive nao ('95,'00). The difference in latitude between the two cities is a major factor in why the yearly average snowfall totals are so far apart.
