Saturday night special, thats right another winter blast of of flurries and snow showers that could add up to 0ne inch. From 65 to to snow in one week and cold wind chills what a wild week!!!
As we progress towards Spring sun angles getting stronger the cold air will have a very difficult time sticking around for long especially without a snow pack.
Also storms will be very progressive and will either cut through our area with limited moisture or cut well west of our area like tomorrow with much moisture take your pick.
Can someone explain to me what the NAO being negative does and what the 50/50 low does? I know a -NAO is blocking over greenland(depending on west or east based). Does this feature prevent storms from cutting to our west? If that is the case, then what does the 50/50 low do? And wouldnt a -NAO not be necessary if you have a polar vortex in canada because a low couldnt cut into that anyway?
Sorry for like 5 questions in one, i just get confused hearing people saying we need it -NAO and 50/50, but I don't know why
Ben, That is like asking sports fan to stop talking about the Super Bowl until game day. :)
This is one strange weather week.
We could see all forms of weather within a few days. Monday most saw snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain, a Tuesday fog, while some may experience hail on Wednesday night. Wonder if that has ever happened before ??
yeah that NAO is not helping matters. It looks like the weekend clipper is being modeled as a pseudo 50/50 so it's all dependent on timing between both systems if it can actually slow down Tuesday's potential at all. given the pattern we've been in I would think this may cut north and west of us if it's that strong or weaken and move south. Hopefully we can get lucky one time!
NAO is absolutely AWFUL however in that time period. It is nearing positive 2. What that tells me is it is a progressive storm that would have a shot at moving NW of us. We'll see
Ben- nobody is predicting anything, we are just discussing the potential per the models. This is a weather site where discussion is encouraged and welcomed. You should be able to decipher the difference between a discussion and a forecast.
Next Tuesday has potential, however I think I'd certainly rather be N&W of the city b/c I think PHL may have temp issues. Hopefully that LP can dig some more as we progress. Looks like the weekend storm blows up and provides some decent blocking though. At least it's something to keep an eye on. Long range is looking bleak as we can't seem to keep the colder temps around it appears.
Nice forecast Rebel. Hey do you know anyone that wants a brand new 60 inch plow for their ATV? I think I'm selling this thing! lol Time to buy some more accessories for the motorcycle as spring is almost upon us. We get about 2 minutes or so more of daylight each day. Sweet!! I love light!
Forecast for me in Houston Wednesday thru Friday....70 and Sunny! Loving it!
Saturday night flurries melt in the Sunday sun by about 11 am.
