Now, in the beginning of September and early fall, many forecasters were saying how big of a winter that this was going to be. And they did have evidence of why this would be. However, things changed with the pattern.
We around here in Philly have missed out on many storms already, but people around us have been gettin snow, even thouh I wanted this snow greatly, I think those people who got it deserved it. We got pounded a couple years ago with back-to-back storms. Places down south could only pray for a storm half of that magnitude.
This winter is not over either. There is no way we could go a full winter with this many chances, and just not get hit with one decent system. Let's just keep our heads up and hope that we can get something going here.
Hope everyone stays safe down south and enjoy your THUNDERSNOW!
ok, snowlover. I can recommend a good therapist! I get your frustration. Yeah, the winters in the few years before those good ones were not great, but the winter o '04-05 was pretty good around here, as I recall - I lived in Bucks Cty then, and the winter of '03-04 wasn't too bad either I don't think. Climate change is likely responsible for these wild swings - so let's hope that means snowier winters going forward.
I'm tired of hearing about '09-'10 and '10-11'. Yeah they were great but the 4 or 5 years before them sucked. We have to face the facts that more than likely winters SUCK around here for snowlovers. Here is my prediction for the '13-'14 winter, SUCKINESS!!!!
Well, I've been as disappointed as any snowlover in the mid-Atlantic at watching our hopes for snow this winter diminish with each passing week; to say we were spoiled by the winters of '09-'10 and '10-'11 would be undestatement. But it was only about an hour ago it occurred to me that while many of us are sort of irritated that southern states are getting the snow while we're getting the short end of the stick this year (so far), ya know, there's probably a heck of a lot of southerners who actually envy us our snow when WE get it (I'm trying to convince myself of this), so I'm going to be happy for them that whoever's getting it, good for them. Sooner or later we'll get it here. We got gifts for 2 straight years, record-setting winters in the Philly area, so I'm really trying hard not to be bitter, lolol! Although, you know, it WOULD be nice to have some sustained bitter cold. It would be nice for it to at least FEEL like winter.
