Ok so all the madness has started...will it rain ? will it snow ? Is the storm a bust ? The answer is simple...a good portion of you are still getting snow and the battle ground will be lower SNJ and Central DE/MD with this storm.
We will see a transfer to the coast and this will allow the storm to roll up from VA Beach to Cape Cod. We could see the temps above 3000 feet drop during the day and gradually work downward to the surface.
So the temps are falling nicely right now..we need the mid to upper 20s by daybreak to get the snow going to start your Saturday.
This is the regional radar right now.
This is the national view of the storm. We are seeing the SW portion of VA break out in snow at this hour. Plenty of energy and moisture to work with the next 12-18 hours. We really want this to phase or have the northern jet and southern jet meet up before heading off into New England.
I've been a reader for a few years but just started posting now. There are those like marcus who tend to be pessimistic and that is there right. Largely that seems to mirror that of tv mets. After that there is some sensible discussion. Then there are those who take long shot bets on every system and hype up better than flava flav (see prior coatings that were spoken of as 7-9"). I guess the point is there is no point and this site offers something for everyone
Marcus is so irritating. He bitches about rain, model hugs and bitches more. Move northwest if you dont like Philly and the rain snow line. Christ, This is not the Marcus bitch fest blogs. It is thoughtful weather analysis and advanced forecasting blog where we all come to learn the weather edge we cant find elsewhere. I normally lurk but I had to post and concur with the other posts.
My opinion is to those people in here that like to complain, and argue about how the forecast is constantly changing, than don't come in here and subject us and yourself to the stress. Weather is not, and never will be an exact science. Go watch the Weather Channel and/or local met's, because Lord knows they are always correct.... I actually learn more from coming in here, than any place else.
00z CMC still has snow North of Mason-Dixon line and West of Philly. But it is getting very dicey with temps. and the current surface map looks like sh*t:
Lol. There isn't a single model showing snow for philly south and east yet everyone thinks were getting 3" of snow. Climo wins again. Enjoy the storm north and west folks, I'm done.
He might be getting a little annoying, but I do see where Marcus is coming from. The models this year have been very very poor. I am too a snow fanatic, so this pisses me off greatly. But it can still be a nice little snow for us. The storm is stronger than some of the 00z models showed according to Mike D. So lets see what happens. Good Luck to everyone tomorrow with the storm.
