What a variety of weather an El Nino winter can bring to Northern Texas and the Dallas Metroplex.
As cold and snowy as it was back in the late 70's Dallas has had several Non-Winters as well. Temps can often look like early Summer on occasion with the right weather pattern.
So we see the variety in winters but which way does this winter swing ? First we have too look at the teleconnection in an El Nino Winter.
We see on the teleconnections above that the dotted lines indicates an "above average" rainfall for El Nino Winters in Texas...Can we break the current drought ?
It will look a lot like 2009-2010 for this winter with above average precip and just a few shots of cold air to make for above average snowfall in Dallas. I see two snow events and one ice event between December and March. The precip will help the drought but not end it.
So here is how the winter will play out in Northern Texas including the Dallas Metroplex. We will be adjusting this as we get closer to the start of winter itself so check back for updates.
