Wow if you followed the weather this last weekend you know it was just wild for many places east of the Mississippi. I have included weekend to be Friday-Saturday-Sunday with 8 different severe weather clusters. Lots of Pics and interesting stats for ya. I had to do quite a bit of research to get this all. It ranks in the top 15 thunderstorm damage events of all time in the USA.
A derecho is defined as a widespread and long-lived wind storm that accompanies rapidly moving showers or thunderstorms. The most severe derechos are given the adjective "super."
STARTED FT. WAYNE INDIANA 3:00 PM 91 MPH WINDS

WOW Amazing storm is right! As a vivid weather follower you don't hear the word "derecho" very often. I actually only have heard the word used once or twice during a actual storm. While trying to fall asleep Friday night, I did notice that the lighting strikes were like a science fiction movie. Every second, a FLASH of light!
In addition my weather friend Ron is driving on down to his cottage in Cape Coral Florida he is reporting significant damage from Virginia to the South Carolina Georgia border along I-95 that area was blasted yesterday.
Just a matter of time until the atmosphere and pattern recharge for further damaging storms.
