The instability is still around with the strong frontogenetic forcing.  The newest models are converging on a solution that is showing more in the way of ice after an initial shot at heavy snow.  I think the dynamics of the leading edge will offset any low level to mid level warming for a longer time than the models suggest.  This could lead to a few more inches of snow in some spots.
