The new Canadian puts out over 5" of snow for some in E PA into NJ! It is the only model being that aggressive but the trend on the other models show a similar track. If this was past 144hrs on the Canadian I would roll my eyes at such a solution but inside 96hrs it is getting interesting! The European model also made a big shift on the Christmas Storm and is much cooler than previous runs, so check out Rob's blog for the images!
Here is the latest ensembles from the European on Christmas storm:
Much colder as the 540 line stays right over Philadelphia. Big improvement from earlier runs!
The Post Christmas Storm also is east on the Euro ensembles compared to the operational:
It starts off warm but changes to snow into the major cities along I-95. Still need some improvement with the track for mostly snow further east, but the trend is our friend as the Euro is becoming snowier with each run.
Conclusion
- Euro Ensembles showing a very interesting solution for the Christmas Event as the track would bring mostly snow to areas from Philly on north.
- GFS ensembles are split on a 1-3" snow across much of the area or a few snow showers for Christmas event.
- New UKMET model shows a much more impressive and colder solution for Christmas event.
- Post Christmas storm is trending east and as we get closer I expect that trend to continue slightly. Might not be all snow for the major cities but will be a big time winter storm for many in the end!
Actually Marcus, Cecily is all in on the xmas snow, in the most non-committal way possible. LOL you know, mentioning it, with a snicker, show 2 tracks, report xmas day that it played out exactly as accuweather stated it would for days.....lol
Scootch I got all rain in western Gloucester county from each storm as well. First time we were supposed to be jackpot area on all models.. And the storm went east and got all rain!
So I know how you feel :). Hurting for snow. Christmas snow will make up for missing first two
One thing's for damn sure....there is a dome of warm air over Chester County, as we have missed both snow "events" so far this year. So it will either be sunny or rainy in ChesCo come Christmas morning...and maybe both at the same time. LOL. Unless of course there is a Festivus miracle!
When you gonna grace us with a snow map for Christmas mike. Euro OP gave us 2-4".. Gfs will probably come back wetter again tonight. Did the same thing yesterday at the 12z run dried it out, boasted it up at 18z/00z.
Looks like good chance for snow from philly and to the north. Things will be clearer by tomorrow night.
Also, some models have been picking up on a possible January 1-3 storm. Good chance of really cold air in january too. But its still VERY VERY VERY far our and a lot will chance until then. But just something to keep your eye on :)
