This is the storm this winter that may go down as the one we all waited for since November. We do have a northern and southern phasing of the jet streams but the track and rain snow line may be the wild card in all this come Thursday and Friday.
It's already Tuesday so we don't have to wait too long for this to play out. Short term models kick in today and we are watching the EURO model as it comes in shortly. The EURO model has been the band leader on this one but it's track record has not been the best since Sandy.
The map above is for Friday night and the GFS is a "GAME ON" with plenty of wind snow and phasing. The dotted blue line is offshore so most locations are in the SNOW ZONE including Boston, Providence, Hartford and even NYC Metro right now.
Boston would be looking at 12" or more of snow, Providence 13"+,Hartford CT could see over 9" and NYC Metro 2-5" of snow heading into the weekend.
