Yesterday we posted that it is simply too early to write off the possibility for a weekend coastal storm that could affect the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions with accumulating snow and subsequent computer model information has supported that notion. In fact, the latest GFS and NAM model runs (12Z) now both support the idea for moisture to hang back in the cold air late Friday night and Saturday as a coastal storm takes shape.Additionally, the latest 12Z Canadian model run supports the idea of low pressure near the Mid-Atlantic coast come Saturday morning. The top two surface forecast maps below are from the 12Z GFS and NAM model runs respectively and they verify 7am Saturday morning with accumulating snow a real threat in the Mid-Atlantic region. The third map below from the 12Z Canadian model also verifies at 7am Saturday morning and it also puts accumulating snow on the table.Stay tuned.
